The INSPIRE lab studies circuit, epigenetic, and post-translational modifications underlying exposure to drugs of abuse. We also examine how stress influences drug taking and relapse through long term neuroadaptations in the mesolimbic dopamine pathways. We use pharmacology, chemogenetics, viral-mediated gene transfer, and cell-type specific tools.
The INSPIRE Lab has also initiated research efforts to understand the mechanisms underlying natural reward and polysubstance use.
